Abstract:
This paper discusses the issues and thoughts why is modernistic architecture being abandoned – do their materials and technologies depreciate, since people have never liked modernist architecture? I would hope to provoke the readers to answere the questions posed in the headline while presenting here the Estonian National Exhibition “How long is the life of a buiding ?” at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. The paper is also about researching for the new methods how the architects and designers could find out the real needs of the local region and the future users, tangible and intangible values of the building, keeping in mind that the notion of value changes over time.
