Tüüne-Kristin Vaikla is a spatial researcher and interior architect who explores social and artistic dimensions of space, focusing on existing interiors and interim use of derelict spaces. Her PhD focused on questions resulting from the transformation of buildings and the metamorphosis of space that arises when new functions are accommodated. Vaikla is an Adjunct Professor of Interior Design at RMIT University in Melbourne and academic at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Vaikla has curated the Estonian National Exhibition at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale and co-authored the spatial design project for the Estonian Presidency of the EU Council in Brussels and Tallinn. She is currently working on spatial values of architectural heritage at the Tallinn Urban Planning Office.
